Letters to come later this week or early next

Please check to see that you've paid up and keep checking your email as that's how I will be getting in touch most frequently. Also the Twitter feed will be another way of spreading information.

Check other stuff below and if there's anything that you think I should include on here let me know by email or leave comments. I'll try to update on Monday evenings.

Hoodies

Anyone interested in hoodies?

We have had them before, always organised by the pupils on the trip. (I have enough to do!)

My point of view is this: over the past few years loads of schools have started getting hoodies for their skiing trips, so much so that on the long journey to the Alps all the service stations are full of groups of British school pupils wearing variations on a theme. They all look the same - you might as well be wearing school uniform.

Not only that, but we as a school seem to have a hoody for pretty much any occasion, so maybe the idea needs renewing.

How about something different? A WC hat? T-shirt (useful for layering as well...)?

Fitness Programme

More news hopefully soon - we'll try to get started in September.

In the meantime, the summer is an excellent time to start getting ready for wintersport. Both skiing and boarding require a lot of work from the legs, obviously enough, so cycling and running are good for this - cycling probably more than running as it puts less impact on the knees. Core strength is also important, so pilates and yoga can be good, as can getting on the rowing machine (which also benefits the cardio-vascular area).

February was the first time ever that an instructor said to us that he felt some of our pupils to be unfit. Apart from the obvious benefit of being able to do more, you are less likely to injure yourself if you're fit. So it's time to get ready...
